Peopledelphia + Saxbys
Jennifer Bishop started working for VISIT PHILADELPHIA a little over a year ago, but she’s been in the city for almost 10. In that time, she’s grown to love the city. After graduating, Bishop bounced around a few jobs before landing her position as Partnership Coordinator with VISIT PHILADELPHIA. Currently, she’s helping Saxbys with the Free Pumpkin Spice Cold Brew event, which happens tomorrow, Sept. 22. We met up with Jennifer at Liberty Place to chat about her work.
What has been your favorite project while working for VISIT PHILADELPHIA?
Does a parent ever name their favorite child!? That’s a tough one. It’s the nature of what we do with our partners that makes my work so fun. When managing a partnership, I’m able to assess every aspect of a project to make sure we’re leveraging each other’s assets in a way that works for everyone. Every partnership is a little different so this could mean producing creative, posting on social, pitching media, all to directly reach visitors and residents. It’s piecing the puzzle to make it all come together.
How has the city changed since you first started working here?
The public perception of Philadelphia. I’m sure the Papal visit and the DNC helped, but the great thing about Philly is that people don’t need a special reason to visit. I think everyone is sees that.
What do you love about this city?
This city has so many little underground, secret hang-outs. I’ve been in Philly for 10 years now and every week I discover my new favorite place. There’s a scene and a song for everyone.
What do you wish more people knew about Philly?
The gems our city holds. Explore beyond the main streets and you’ll find our beautiful murals, live music, and yummy BYOBs. There’s just so much to do and love.
