Saxbys Temple is Nearly Complete and We’re Looking for Artists to Help Us Finish the Job

Construction is almost complete at our newly renovated Saxbys Temple. We know you’ve been craving to see the new digs so check out some behind-the-scenes pics below. We found a lot of exposed brick behind our walls so we’re looking for some Temple student artists to help us liven up the cafe before we open, just like we did for the Drexel cafe.

If you’re interested, work must be installed before classes start so we’ll need to hear from you by Friday, Aug. 12. We have three exhibition opportunities for 1-3 artists:

  • 14’ x 5’ brick wall. Brick hanging clips will be provided. This is suitable for 2-D work or very shallow 3-D work that can hang on a wall.
  • 2 shelves for small 3-D work. This is suitable for small scale (12" x 12" x 12") 3-D work. Number of pieces based on size. There are 2 shelves.
  • 7’ x 7'9" wall for direct mural installation.

We’ll provide an opening reception, and connect potential purchasers of your work with you for free (i.e., no commission!). If you’re interested, send your portfolio to marketing@saxbyscoffee.com.

Check out the original wallpaper we found once we started tearing down the walls!

The renovated Saxbys Temple will feature an entire makeover with exposed red brick, better seating, brighter lights, and more outlets! Check it out:

We’re super excited to showcase the Temple T, as owl student’s take pride in being #TempleMade. This space will be even better for those organizational meetings, hangouts, or study breaks! Stop by and check it out when it opens at the end of August, just in time for fall semester and much needed caffeine. Follow @Saxbys on Twitter for sneak peeks and updates!
